Gurudevi Ahalya Running Deer Mahakali is the spiritual head of the Hari Om Tat Sat Hermitage, one of the lineages of the Immortal Mahavatar Babaji of India. She is a disciple of Sant Mata Samyama Shangri-La for over twenty five years. Gurudevi is a Shaman and a Yogini Christ. She has studied extensively and been trained in the Yogic traditions, Human Potential, Metaphysics and Shamanism. Gurudevi has been teaching for over 25 years and continues to travel widely in America and Asia, closely working with her disciples and devotees, and addressing people in retreats and on teaching tours.

There is a wonderful story where a young seeker goes to see a great master and asks him for the Truth to which the great master replied, "Life is consciousness and God dwells within." The young man was disappointed because nothing happened for him as he heard these words.
He had some idea that a great being could tell him the Truth in a sentence and he would somehow be immediately transformed. Life would never be the same ~ no more problems, he would get it and he would have arrived. But he wanted a more complex answer. . . .
. . . .Like most people he was seeking a quick solution, instant gratification, and not understanding that all greatness comes from discipline and preparation. He could not hear what the first master said because he had not yet peeled away the maya or as it is said in English, illusion.
When he surrendered to his process and lived a life of discipline and focus in his spiritual quest, he built his muscles, so to speak. Day by day he became clearer in preparation for his awakening. It happens like that ~ there are no short cuts. . . . . . . .We live a play of consciousness and, like an actor in a play understands he is not the part he is playing, so we must understand we are not the part we are playing in our life. If the actor believed he was the character he was playing and the story of the play was his story, he would be living in maya, illusion.
Like the actor, if we cannot separate ourselves from the play and the part, we too are caught in maya. Our life experience is an illusion yet it is real in the sense that it is our experience. It becomes maya when we believe we are the limited roles we are playing, when what we are experiencing seems the most important thing in our existence.

In 1993, Gurudevi Ahalya Running Deer Mahakali established centers in the Philippines and the U.S. upon her initiation to teach independently as a Guru.
